NSRM Electrical Repair Services

The electrical department of Norman Ship Repair & Machine Shop is one of its many strengths. This department is manned by highly skilled marine electrical technicians, with years of field and shop experience.

The fully equipped workshop has a dynamic balancing machine, computerized core loss tester, calibrated burning and baking ovens, and an air-conditioned and rewinding room.

Motor rewinding, of up to 500 kW, can be carried out within 1 -5 days, depending on motor size. Our electrical teams have acquired an excellent reputation with offshore operators for carrying out high quality work (major upgrades and modification), completed on time and within budget.

Automation and Control Systems

Repairs, modifications and replacement of design modules for controllers, alarms systems and marine instrumentation are amongst the many services provided. We can design and custom build controllers tailored to customers specific applications.

Our specialties include boiler combustion control systems, power management systems on main switch board, main propulsion and steering gear automation and inert gas systems.

The management is committed to the principles of Quality, in that any function that influences the product or service, from the initial receipt of a Purchase Order through all phases of the order's implementation, is addressed to create a quality product or service, and provide scope for continuous improvement.

The Quality Management system, in addition to meeting the requirements of ISO 9002, promotes the effective and efficient running of our business, and particularly in our relationships with all our customers and suppliers. The Quality Management System is aimed at total customer satisfaction through training of staff and the control of working standards in accordance with approved procedures.

The achievement of this Quality Policy is the responsibility of the senior management of Norman Ship Repair & Machine Shop. Each departmental head is responsible for monitoring and verifying that the quality of work performed by the departmental personnel is in accordance with the requirements of the Quality Manual. All employees are responsible for knowing and conforming to the specified requirements of their work scope.

Finally, commitment to "Quality" must be a primary objective in every individual's role within the organization, and therefore compliance with the Quality Policy, and the requirements of the Quality Manual and Procedures is mandatory.

NSRM Structural Repair Services

The structural department is largest of NSRM's departments. The fabrication shop is equipped to carry out marine and offshore related repair and conversions work.

All NSRM welders are trained to meet the highest standards of marine fabrication and repair work. Towards meeting this goal, NSRM foremen and leadmen who head up field or shop work are thoroughly familiar with standard and approved procedures, and with guidelines as specified by SARQS (IACS publication "Shipbuilding and Repair Quality Standards")

Our welders have acquired an excellent reputation with customers and class, for highly professional and skilled workmanship. Large teams can be mobilized at short notice to respond to emergency situations.

The boiler and pipe shop can produce steel and alloy fabrication, and as a matter of standard practice, all completed work is blasted and primed before delivery to customers.

All our work is covered by the NSRM guarantee, which is one of the many reasons that our satisfied customers offer us their repeated business.

 

The NSRM Machine Shop

NSRM's machine shop has been specifically set up to provide "job-shop" services for the marine, offshore and shore-based industry. This is ideal for carrying out "one of a kind" fabrication or repairs. Services offered include:

• Fabrication of replacement components

• Repairs of worn, or defective parts (24/7)

• Weld build up and metal spray reconditioning

The shop is equipped with vertical and horizontal boring machines, lathes, milling machines, drill presses, grinders and key cutters. These machines, in combination with our welding equipment enable NSRM to carry out reconditioning of all major engine components.

ISO and ASME quality procedures require each job to be planned on check sheets or "travelers". Jobs in progress are inspected and signed off at each stage, and subject to a thorough final inspection before release to customers.

All precision and test equipment is calibrated in accordance with the Quality manual requirements.
